Summary of Internet Resources Pertaining to the new Condominium Act & Regulations
The Protecting Condominium Owners Act, 2015 (PCOA) received Royal Assent on December 3, 2015. The PCOA amends the Condominium Act, 1998 and creates the Condominium Management Services Act, 2015 (CMSA). On December 16, 2016, a draft of the proposed regulations for the Condominium Management Services Act, 2015 was released for public consideration and comment. On February 13, 2017, a draft of the proposed PCOA regulations dealing with communications, director qualifications, meetings and records was released for comment by March 30, 2017. On February 27, 2017, draft regulations regarding the designation of two Administrative Authorities under the Condominium Act, 1998 and the establishment of a Tribunal system were released for comment by April 10, 2017. On April 5, 2017, the Condominium Management Regulatory Authority of Ontario (CMRAO) and the Condominium Authority of Ontario (CAO) launched their websites. The acts will come into force in phases as the regulations are finalized and proclaimed beginning this summer.
