The Deadline for Holding Virtual Meetings without a Bylaw is Extended to May 31, 2021
Submitted By: admin on Oct 02, 2020
The province has just announced that it is extending the deadline, which allows virtual meetings to be held without an e-meeting/e-voting bylaw, to May 31, 2021.
Prior to this announcement, the looming deadline was November 21, 2020 and many corporations were scrambling to get a virtual bylaw-approval meeting booked before November 21st or were prepared to risk holding such a meeting after the official deadline. The extension means that corporations can relax a bit.
There’s now ample time to call, explain and hold a virtual owners’ meeting without an e-meeting/e-voting bylaw. Corporations who still want to pass such a bylaw have until May 31, 2021 to do so.
Please note that this DOES NOT affect any deadline for holding AGMs. AGMs which would have normally been required to be held between July 24th and August 24th can only be deferred until 120th day after the termination of the emergency – to November 21st.
