The Ontario Government has introduced a consultation draft of the General Regulation under the Condominium Management Services Act, 2015, for public review and feedback.
The proposed General Regulation focuses on Licensing and Transition for Condominium Managers and Management Providers, and Regulation of Licensees.
A second phase of regulations may include a proposed Code of Ethics, as well as processes for discipline and appeals committees.
We are providing the following links so that you can read the draft regulation and provide your feedback to the province.
The condominium law firm of Nelligan|O’Brien|Payne has commented on the draft regulations on their Condo Law News blog.
Our managers will learn more about the draft regulation at our January 12, 2017 Managers’ Meeting. Our CEO, John Oakes, who sits on the inaugural board of the Condominium Management Regulatory Authority of Ontario (CMRAO), will join with lawyers Audrey Loeb and Warren Kleiner of Miller Thomson, in providing us with an update on the regulations that have been released. We will share the contents of that presentation with our boards.
